During the dietetic internship year, students apply their academic knowledge in a variety of practice settings. Such settings include hospitals, long term care facilities, and community organizations. The internship is a comprehensive 39 week experience, in which students are exposed to nutrition care, population and public health, and management roles in dietetics. Under the supervision of RD preceptors, interns develop confidence and proficiency in performing professional duties and responsibilities.
The UBC dietetic internship is nationally accredited, and thus has been designed to develop the competencies required of an entry-level dietitian.
