Preceptor Orientation

Is this your first time as a preceptor for a Year 5 UBC Dietetics student? Thank you for dedicating your time to training dietetic students!  We hope you find it to be a rewarding experience. This page provides orientation resources for new preceptors, and experienced preceptors wanting a refresher.

Start Here!

The Preceptor Orientation Checklist can help you prepare for your student’s placement.  Start with a self-guided orientation using the checklist. Additional tools to support you are posted in the “Preceptor Resources” section on the left side of this page.

Attend a 2021-22 Preceptor Orientation Session

Orientation sessions are offered 2 times per year via Zoom by UBC Dietetics Program staff. Join the Preceptor Interest Group Listserv to ensure you receive notifications about orientation sessions that are coming up. If you are unable to attend a session, slides will be posted below and circulated to the Preceptor listserv annually in September.

Preceptor Orientation sessions for the 2021-22 academic year are planned for the following dates and times:

Wednesday September 8, 2021, 12:00-1:00 pm

Session recording and slides can be found here. Note: the recording is split into Part 1 and 2. You may wish to skip over Part 1 from time 7:00-8:00 when we experienced technical issues.

Thursday January 13, 2022, 2:00-3:00 pm

Register here. Once you register you should receive an email from Qualtrics with the Zoom link for the session.
