Current Graduate Students

This page serves as a key resource for current MND students to understand the program, their responsibilities, and the resources available to support them.

Program People and Places

Meet the Team: Tamara Cohen, Anna Brisco, and Xinyan Fan are the core MND faculty and staff. Our offices are in the Food Nutrition and Health Building, located at 2205 East Mall.

See About the Program to learn more about UBC Dietetics program vision, values, and learning outcomes.

See Why Dietetics to learn more about the profession in Canada. MND Students are strongly encouraged to join Dietitians of Canada,  in order to access the student network, including blogs, free webinars, and discounted online courses.

Program Policies and Procedures

Students are expected to review and understand UBC Vancouver, Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, and Program policies and procedures throughout their studies. Learn more from the program policies page.

Program Accreditation Status

The MND program curriculum supports graduating students to achieve entry-to-practice competence in dietetics, as described by the Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and Practice.

The MND program is currently in the process of being “Registered” for accreditation with Accreditation Canada/EQual. “Registered” status serves as an important demonstration of our commitment to providing quality education in alignment with accreditation and regulatory requirements. “Registered” status is not an accreditation status, nor does it guarantee any eventual accreditation.

If you require additional information regarding our “Registered” accreditation status and endeavors and/or any potential implications this may have on your future abilities to practice as a healthcare professional, we encourage you to reach out to Anna Brisco, MND Program Lead.

Program Requirements

Students in the MND must meet specific requirements outside of their academic and practical coursework. Some of these requirements, such as a Criminal Records Check, must be initiated prior to starting in September.  Students are required to self-enroll in the MND Canvas site for their respective cohort; further details will be communicated to students upon program admission.

Course Requirements

The UBC Academic Calendar is the official guide for course requirements. Please note: students are required to follow the version of degree requirements for the year they were admitted to the MND.

The MND is academically rigorous, and does not permit students to take credit courses outside the program curriculum.
